It’s a PASTA but a PIE … a PASTA PIE!
Not bad hah, you might as well try and make it. With increased smoky flavor it might be even better than the regular pasta!
The taste is up to you. With cheese, vegetables or a standard bolognese pasta pie. No limits!
1 lb rigatoni pasta
2 tbsp olive oil
1/3 lb ground beef
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 c shredded mozzarella cheese
2. Prepare the sauce. Add 1 tbsp olive oil in a large size pan on a medium heat. Add the ground beef, salt and pepper. When the beef turns pink, add the crushed tomatoes, dried parsley & basil, grated garlic, oregano and pepper flakes. Low the heat and keep it cooking for 20 minutes.
3. Preheat the oven to 220˚C. Take a spring-form pan and apply butter on the bottom and edges of the pan. Toss the pasta with the grated Parmesan cheese and place it vertically inside the pan (see the picture). Leave some space inside the pasta, cause of the sauce that will be filled in with.
4. Pour the sauce on the pasta and sprinkle the grated mozzarella cheese all over it. Take the pan into the oven and cook it for about 15 minutes.
When done, take it from the oven and set it aside for 10 minutes. Take a knife and run along the edge of the pan, separating the pasta from the pan. Your PASTA PIE is done! BON APPETITE!
