“I pretend for a living, but you do not!” – said Leonardo DiCaprio, UN Messenger of Peace, during his speech at the opening of the Climate Summit 2014.

Climate changes are happening. We can not deny them, cause they happen constantly in front of our eyes. Things are changing, unfortunately not in a good way. And the cause of the change … well of course it’s the human factor. Science says: 97% of climate experts agree, humans are causing global warming.

The global temperature is rising but is also accompanied with intense rain and frequent heat waves. Oceans are warming, ice caps are melting, and sea levels are rising. Result: Our world is getting warmer!

The climate has changed in the past also. The thing is that it changes when it’s forced to change. When our planet suffers an energy imbalance and gains or loses heat, then the global temperature changes.

Do you know that:

1. The thick sea ice in the Arctic Ocean is not expected to melt until the end of the century. If current trends continue, summer ice could be gone in a decade or two.

2. The weather is getting too extreme, that it represents a threat to humanity. Super-storms have become everyday life that we face with.

3. Half of the CO2 we pump into the atmosphere stays there, while the rest is absorbed by the land and the oceans. Do not forget that the world is getting warmer, so after a while they wont be able to take up all.

4. The global ecosystem is changing due to global warming, and some scientists have found that 18 to 35% of plant and animal species will be committed to extinction by 2050 due to climate change.

Climate change is the “single biggest risk to the global economy today,” said leaders at the 2014 Clinton Global Initiative in New York City this week.

The eternal paradox of human kind is that one day we’ll destroy ourselves! Human kind has a destructible strand in it’s DNA. We tend towards our self-destruction! If we don’t respect ourselves and our life’s, then how can we respect other people life’s?

How can we stop it? Where to start when the road is so long? START FROM YOURSELF! Do some reading and enlighten yourself about the problem! If we started it, be damn sure that we can stop it!

REMEMBER: By not acting with all resources human kind possesses, we risk pushing our climate system towards abrupt, unpredictable, and potentially irreversible changes with extremely damaging impacts!
